It’s been a mix of sawdust, sunshine, and surf over here. So we thought we’d share a little update on what we’ve been up to.

Camroad Reno – The Strip-Out Saga…

Ollie’s been elbow-deep in the Camroad, doing a full strip-out of the interior. We took it to the tip after the first big round and it came in 300kg lighter, which felt like a small victory.

There was one itchy day when Ollie forgot to wear his suit while pulling out insulation (lesson learned!). As we got further into the bones of the build, we realised the frame is timber, not aluminium. Not ideal for long-term strength, but Ollie’s already dreaming up a plan to rebuild around it with aluminium framing to reinforce the structure. Fingers crossed it works the way he’s imagining.

He’s also been deep in research mode. Comparing appliances, reading specs, and watching way too many YouTube reviews. We’re looking at fridges, air conditioners, solar panels, and all the bits that’ll make the Camroad feel like home. We’ll share what we’ve learned soon in case it helps anyone else doing a similar build.

Also… surfboard storage. It’s proving to be a bit of a puzzle. We’ve got a few ideas floating around and are hoping to land on a solution that’s practical but doesn’t cramp the space too much.

Sunshine Coast Wedding Vibes

We also snuck away for a few days to celebrate our good friends’ wedding up at Sunshine Beach. We stayed right on the coast, surfed every morning, and soaked up some much needed chill time.

The wedding itself was beautiful, intimate, relaxed, and full of love. There was a surprise hailstorm in the afternoon (classic Queensland), but the bride and groom rolled with it and found an alternate venue. It turned out perfect in the end.

Ham’s Take

Ham has been supervising all Camroad activity from a safe, dust-free distance. He’s not impressed by insulation but very interested in any cardboard box nearby. While we were off celebrating, Ham had his own little getaway. He stayed with a friend and finally got to spend time with Tea the cat, who he’s been pining over for ages. According to Ham, it was a good visit… though Tea wasn’t quite as smitten. She mostly ignored him and wasn’t up for playing, but Ham’s still holding out hope that one day she’ll come around. Unrequited love in the feline world is real.
